About Our Village Mount Mansfield Villages (MMV) is a social network providing members with the support they need to stay in their homes while getting older. We help members remain active, socially-connected, and independent for as long as possible by linking volunteers to neighbors who need services. Mount Mansfield Villages is part of the Village to Village Network, a national network of “villages” across the country. This network provides many good ideas on how we can help our neighbors, and ourselves, to “age in place.” MMV "went live" on June 1st, 2019. We have volunteers who have attended an orientation session and passed a background check ready to offer their services to MMV members. We are looking for additional members, donors, and volunteers. Please read below for more information.
Become an MMV Member! Who? Residents of Cambridge, Underhill, and Jericho who are over the age of 50 may join the MMV community as regular Individual or Household members for a modest annual fee. Members then have access to all MMV volunteer services and social activities. For more information, please see the Members menu at the top of this page. Those interested primarily in social activities or who wish to help financially support the MMV may consider becoming Sponsors. For more information, please see What's a Sponsor in the Donations menu. Services: We will connect members with volunteers who will provide a wide array of services such as running errands, shopping, local transportation, small home repairs, friendly visits, daily phone checks, and technical assistance, to name a few. For more information, please see Volunteer Services in the Members menu. Events and Activities: Importantly, we will provide opportunities for you to connect with your community, fellow members, and volunteers through social and educational activities. For more information, please see Member Events and Activities in the Members menu. Cost: There is a modest annual membership fee in order to defray the expenses of operating the MMV. But no one who needs MMV’s services will be turned away. For more information, please see Membership Fees in the Members menu. Signing up: Please complete the Member Application Form in the Members menu.
Become an MMV Volunteer! Anyone age 18 or older who has a passion and talent for providing services to fellow neighbors can volunteer. There is no minimum time commitment. In addition to providing services to members, there are quite a few opportunities for volunteers to assist with administrative tasks such as budget planning, service planning, volunteer recruitment, marketing and outreach, and fundraising. For more information, please see the Volunteers menu. If you'd like to become a volunteer, please complete the Volunteer Application Form in the Volunteers menu. The recruitment and orientation process for volunteers will include a background check with appropriate State of Vermont registries and, in addition, a Department of Motor Vehicles check for volunteer drivers.
